Balance

Balance. Is it the key to a happy life?

Who knows if balance is the key to happiness? There are certainly enough people looking for the answer. All I can tell you is that I certainly remember being told, on many occasions, that it is. I also find that, for me, it really helps.

As a husband, a father, and a business owner, a better understanding of balance has been a big thing for me.

I started my first business for two reasons:

  1. I am passionate about helping people

  2. I wanted the freedom to be with my kids while they were growing up.

I didn't want to miss out on the sports days or the school holidays just because someone else was telling me when I should and shouldn't be with them.

Although my kids are growing up, I still make sure I achieve some level of balance. This is never more important for me than at weekends.

So balance for me looks like this:

Early on a Saturday, I'm up and out seeing my in-person clients at my facility. Then it's home to check in with all my clients to ensure they have what they need and answer any questions they have. We then have a planning session for the following week so that everyone knows what is to be done and when it needs to be done.

This is all over by midday when the work phone is turned off, new emails aren't answered, and family time begins until Monday morning.

As I said, I don't know if balance is key. But it does help me.
