Magic Moments

Do you really appreciate the magic moments that happen in your life?

During our lives, we have those special moments that make us smile when we look back. We remember them in such vivid detail that we can see them as if they have just happened.

Using these memories can help drag you out of low times when you start to feel your mood slipping, but you have to have slowed down enough during them to really take the time to remember all the details.

One example of this is when I took my family ice skating. I hate anything like that, but I wanted my kids to experience as many different things as possible.

Now, my wife is amazing at things like that. So she had the kids floating around the rink in no time at all, and no one wanted to use the penguins provided to help people like me stay upright.

Towards the end of our time on the ice, one of my kids grabbed my hand and led me at break-neck speed across the ice.

Now, if we had the penguin, I would have been fine, but I was flying along behind her shouting, "Slow down! We're going too fast!! I’ll fall".

And, with that, my arse bounced along the surface of this rink like a bouncing bomb! My kids loved it! The only thing louder than my backside hitting the ground was their laughter!

Now that story gets told whenever they get the opportunity. And, to be honest, watching their faces light up as they remember it and watching them use that as one of their magical moments is amazing. They remember everything about that moment.

“Dad, the look on your face was amazing.”

“Dad the sound of you hitting the ground was so funny.”

“You were so angry. It was hilarious.”

If we don’t appreciate what we have now, then the pursuit of magical moments becomes so much harder.
